Role Overview

We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our People team in Iraq. This is the first hire in the People department — you will build Swibit's hiring engine from the ground up.

Swibit is scaling from ~30 to 100+ people across Iraq, Pakistan, and the UK. You will own the end-to-end recruitment process for all functions — engineering, design, delivery, operations, and business — sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, managing offers, and building the employer brand that attracts the best talent in Iraq.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Pipeline Management

  • Own the full-cycle recruitment process — from job posting through offer acceptance

  • Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, referrals, university partnerships, and direct outreach

  • Screen CVs and conduct initial phone/video interviews

  • Coordinate technical and cultural interviews with hiring managers and Functional Leads

  • Manage the candidate pipeline in Odoo Recruitment — keep every candidate status current

  • Negotiate offers and manage the offer-to-start process

  • Track and report on hiring metrics — time-to-fill, pipeline conversion, source effectiveness

Employer Branding & Sourcing

  • Build and maintain Swibit's employer brand — careers page content, social media presence, job descriptions

  • Develop university relationships — particularly with Bayan University and other Iraqi institutions

  • Represent Swibit at career fairs, university events, and tech community meetups

  • Build a proactive talent pipeline for recurring and hard-to-fill roles (AI, Backend, Frontend)

  • Manage the Academy-to-hire pipeline — tracking graduates who are ready for junior positions

Process & Standards

  • Ensure a consistently excellent candidate experience — responsive communication, clear process, timely feedback

  • Maintain structured interview processes — scorecards, defined criteria, consistent evaluation

  • Ensure hiring decisions align with Swibit's values (Home, Passion, Agility, Excellence)

  • Collaborate with the CPO on headcount planning and workforce forecasting

  • Support onboarding handoff — ensure new hires transition smoothly to HR Coordinator for Day 1 logistics

  • Maintain compliance with Iraqi labour law requirements in the hiring process

Requirements

Essential

  • Based in Iraq (able to work from the office on a hybrid schedule)

  • 3+ years of experience in talent acquisition or recruitment — preferably in technology or IT services

  • Proven sourcing skills — ability to find strong candidates beyond job board applicants

  • Experience managing an end-to-end hiring pipeline

  • Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you are the first impression of Swibit

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple open positions simultaneously

  • Comfortable using recruitment tools and ATS platforms

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)

Preferred

  • Experience recruiting for technical roles — software engineers, AI engineers, designers

  • Experience with Odoo Recruitment module or similar ATS

  • Existing network within the Iraqi tech community

  • University partnership or campus recruitment experience

  • Employer branding experience — content creation, social media, careers page

  • Understanding of the Iraqi labour market and salary benchmarks

  • Experience in a startup or fast-scaling company

  • HR qualification or CIPD certification
